Health Savings Accounts

by Andrew

Last year we went to a higher deductible family health insurance plan in conjunction with a health savings account. For us, part of the reason is that we wanted maternity coverage and the high-deductible plan offered the best option The premium was much less, but the initial deductible expense can be a little heavy until the health savings account balance builds up. Now, I understand that the healthcare reform proposals might do away with health savings accounts. If that happens, we may not have time to build up the HSA and realize the tax benefits to offset the higher deductible cost. How will that affect us?
